Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove, October 2010
I didn't get a lot of Pro Stock coverage because I wanted to get to the pits and talk with some of the Sportsman racers, but I did get one of my all-time favorites: Warren Johnson.

If you're a regular reader of The Dragtime News then you know I love all things Sportsman racing, so while at the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals I made it a point to get to know some of the racers I've featured. Here's one of them: Richard Knarich Sr. from Seaford DE. Richard owns and drives his Gramp's Toy 1973 Chevrolet Vega in Super Street. It has a 355' small block with a Powerglide and a Dana 60 with 5.14 gears and runs mid-10s at 129. One more thing: Richard is 70 years old and has been racing for over 50 years!

Just another dedicated, hard-working Sportsman racer on a budget: Dennis Chapman brought his '88 BF/S Dodge from Toms River, NJ.
Richard has raced in a lot of events and has the stickers to prove it.

This is a beautiful Super Street car: the 1967 Pontiac Firebird of York, PA's Brenda Hunter.
Making its encore from Page 13: the 1958 Corvette of Tom Goldman (that's Tom on the left). Tom's a fixture in Super Gas, including racing with The Mid-Atlantic Super Gas Association.

"Move along, nothing to see here..."
SpongeBob FirePants.
I second that.
This poor dragster was put out to pasture in the Pennsylvania countryside.
You saw him earlier in this coverage, and here he is again: team-of-1 Super Stock racer Brian Stianchi keeping busy between rounds.
Hey, sometimes that's all it takes!
