2011 Performance Racing Industry show, Orlando FL, December 2011
Powermaster Performance
We stopped by the Powermaster Performance booth and met with Brady Basner, who showed us this F-body LS alternator and their new light weight, high performance starter for the Ford 5.0 Coyote series engine in the 200 ft lb XS Torque part number 9532. Designed for cranking engines with up to 18:1 compression, all in an 8 pound package. Using a 1.4kw starter motor and 4.4:1 gear reduction, the XS Torque 9532 resists heat soak with its’ fully encapsulated aluminum solenoid. Visit www.powermasterperformance.com for more information.
Moroso Performance Products
Moroso Performance Products debuted 135 new parts at PRI, among them the ones discussed by Moroso's Thor Schroeder in the video: their new lighter-weight dry sump pumps that weigh almost half of gerotor pumps and take up to 40% less power to drive, their new lug nuts that complement their press-in wheel studs and meet NHRA's 5.2 rule of hex being length of diameter of stud, and their new safety boots for battery disconnect switches. Also on display was a whole line of their new billet electric water pumps, including this ultra-trick version for big-block 383-440 Chrysler that simply installs into the existing housing. Visit www.moroso.com for information on all their products.
WD-40
Who of us doesn't use WD-40 for a bunch of different uses in our racing operations? How about to remove sticker glue from Lexan windows? The company was on hand displaying new additions to their product line such as their No-Mess Pens. Visit www.wd40.com.
Stage 8 Locking Fasteners Scat Crankshafts
Stage 8 Locking Fasteners are engineered to keep critical bolted joints tight in the severest operating conditions. Stage 8 Locking Fasteners are also available in custom sizes and material by special order. Visit www.stage8.com.
Scat Crankshafts was displaying their line of engine components. Scat currently offers 300 rotating assemblies, 50+ rod applications, 40+ crank applications, and 90+ forrged crank applications. Visit www.scatcrankshafts.com.
ATI Performance Products
ATI Performance Products was displaying this innovative new low sprag assembly for the Torqueflite 904 transmission. As ATI's J.C. Beattie, Jr. explains, if you hurt the OEM 904 sprag you've basically hurt the case. ATI's new bolt-in sprag virtually eliminates this shortcoming, while delivering the ability to hold 1,000 ft/lbs. of torque. The item is available now; you can install it yourself or ATI can install it for you into your case. Visit www.atiracing.com for more information.
Sanctioning Bodies
In my opening video I mentioned how well represented drag racing is at PRI, and here's some of the proof: in addition to all the manufacturers were major sanctioning bodies like the American Drag Racing League and the National Hot Rod Association.
VFN Fiberglass Rollmaster
VFN Fiberglass was displaying this new dash, but the real story was their catalog which I picked up. I can't believe how many different fiberglass items they have. Visit www.vfnfiberglass.com.
Stan Huitema was showing off some of the latest timing chain offerings from Rollmaster. Visit www.romacusa.com for more information.
