SUPER STREET, ROUND 3: Jim Schreiner getting ready to go against Chris Butcher.
Tough break (literally) for Jay Neville, who broke after the burnout.

Schreiner leaving against Butcher. Butcher .003'd Schreiner and then went dead-on with a .007, and that was that.
Getting ready to go into Super Stock as Tom Sheehan waits under the tower.
Man, another tough break. Lee Zane was strapped in the McHugh Racing Camaro, waiting under the tower. When they gave him the sign to fire it up, nothing. The starter was locked with the ring gear. They tried all they could (rocking the car, hitting the solenoid) but to no avail. Their day ended right here.
SUPER STOCK, ROUND 4: Joe Lisa keeps all four wheels planted.

A flock (or would that be a gaggle) of dragsters getting ready for next round of Super Comp.
Johnny Maggs is still in it.
This dragster was naughty and was sent to its room.
Now it's Saturday evening, just about 7:00 pm. I was on my way to the DRAW auction and ran into Mike Neff. What strikes me about him is how quiet and unassuming he is, despite tuning and driving an 8,000 horsepower timebomb. As I was speaking with him a fan came up and mistook him for Robert Hight. Although I'm sure it was annoying, Mike handled it with real grace and professionalism.
Time for the DRAW auction. Any of you regular visitors know that I'm a big proponent of DRAW, the Drag Racing Association of Women. Their mission is to provide financial assistance to racers who are injured on the track. As a racer I hope I never need them, but I'm glad they're there.
